Surgery Update —
Chase has come out of surgery and is currently in recovery. We have not yet been able to see him, and we are awaiting a full briefing from the ophthalmology team.

The Sinus Surgery — Great News:
The sinus surgery went beautifully. The team successfully cleared the frontal sinus and all other affected sinus cavities. Everything was described as textbook. Importantly, no additional incision at the brow was necessary — the entire procedure was completed through the nasal passage as planned. This part could not have gone better.

An Unexpected Development — Eye Pressure:
At the conclusion of the sinus surgery, the attending ENT examined Chase’s eye and identified that the pressure inside the eye was dangerously high — a potential risk to his vision. Emergency ophthalmology was immediately called in and confirmed the concern.

To relieve the pressure and protect Chase’s vision, the ophthalmology team performed an emergency procedure involving the severing of tendons surrounding the eye. We are told the tendons are expected to heal over time.

What Comes Next:
Ophthalmology now requires updated imaging to assess the situation fully, as the CT scan from 48 hours ago is no longer current enough to guide their decisions. An MRI remains complicated by Chase’s braces, which would require an orthodontist to remove the brackets — and time is of the essence. Another CT scan may be the most viable path forward.

Whether further action by ophthalmology will be needed remains unknown at this time. We are awaiting their briefing in the waiting room.
